Kazuhiko Kido

PharmD, BCCP, BCPS, FCCP, FHFSA

Dr. Kazuhiko Kido is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy, where he leads cardiovascular pharmacotherapy research embedded in active clinical practice. With over 12 years of specialized cardiovascular pharmacy experience, his scientific and clinical interests span heart failure pharmacotherapy optimization, anticoagulation safety in special populations, intravenous iron therapy, and implementation science.

Dr. Kido completed his PharmD at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, followed by PGY-1 pharmacy practice and PGY-2 cardiology pharmacy residencies at the University of Kentucky HealthCare. He subsequently earned a Master of Science from the Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy, reflecting a commitment to internationally grounded, evidence-based inquiry. He holds dual board certifications in cardiology pharmacy (BCCP) and pharmacotherapy (BCPS), and is a recognized Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (FCCP) and the Heart Failure Society of America (FHFSA).

Clinically, he provides specialized services in both the outpatient heart failure clinic and inpatient heart failure service at WVU Medicine. A nationally recognized contributor to clinical guideline development, Dr. Kido served as a writing committee member for the 2023 ACC/AHA/ACCP/HRS Guideline for the Diagnosis and Management of Atrial Fibrillation. He is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the Heart Failure Society of America, with an authorship record exceeding 40 peer-reviewed publications in leading cardiovascular and pharmacy journals.
